Campus and Facilities

Preston High School

The evolution of Preston High School into a 21st century state-of-the-art learning centre supports young people to boost their academic capabilities and engage with their passions and interests.

Gillard Building

This modern four-level building includes a VCE – VM Centre designed for senior students. Fitted with new classrooms, communal spaces and teacher offices, the centre encourages both independent, focused study and peer collaboration.

The building also includes new art, design and music spaces in addition to a rehearsal room where students can hone their musical skills and refine their performances.

The Tony Birch Library is located on the first floor. The library is both a hub for reading and school community engagement. The library’s design is composed of soft, earthy tones and materials, which promote a visually calming atmosphere welcoming all learners into the space.

Heritage Building

As you enter the front gates on Cooma Street, a red-brick Georgian Revival Heritage building lies at the heart of the upgraded campus, which has now been converted to include a 21st century STEM centre. Our newly built facilities encourage students to exercise design-based thinking and problem-solving skills. For example, students can explore Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Digital Technology and 3D printing, coding and robotics.

Creative Arts Building

Students thrive in our newly built Art facilities. Classrooms are designed to inspire students to explore various artistic expressions whether it be through Visual Communication and Design, Studio Art or Photography. For Music lovers, modern classrooms and a new Instrumental Music space allow students to explore multiple instruments and rehearse their performances.

The Performing Arts have also found a new home in our upgraded theatre. With improved acoustics, lighting, and sound systems, this space is the stage for countless captivating performances and productions, showcasing our students’ talents and creativity.

Stadium

Preston High School’s purpose built stadium is complete with a competition-grade basketball court, change rooms, a food technology kitchen and classroom, and a canteen. A new outdoor gym has been installed and is used by students during scheduled classes and during recess and lunch breaks.

Social Learning & Inclusive Spaces

Our outdoor areas are designed to promote wellbeing and connection. Staff regularly share the yard with students where picnic tables, vibrant gardens and green lawns allow our school community to relax and connect.
