School Uniform

Future Students

Preston High School’s uniform is categorised as either academic or sports uniform. Students may wear any of the Preston High School uniform items made available to them, however they are not permitted to wear a blend or mix of academic and sports uniform. There are no gender-based restrictions and uniform items may be worn trans-seasonally.

Dress Code

All garments must be worn as intended by the designer/cut of the garment. That is, items should not be rolled up, hemmed up, sewn or cut to appear, sit or function in any other way than intended.

Sports uniform

Sports uniform should be worn on the day of sport classes and special events such as interschool sports. If a student attends interschool sports training in the morning, they must change into their academic school uniform before the commencement of classes.

Shoes

Black leather school shoes are the only permitted shoe (except for PE classes). This excludes black leather runners, skate shoes, slippers, dance shoes or street shoes.

Socks

Socks must be plain black or white socks with no logos.

Undergarments or thermals

Students are permitted to wear undergarments and thermals provided they are a black or white colour.

Clothing Accessories

A school bucket hat, cap, beanie, scarf, tie and backpack are featured on the uniform supplier’s website. Hats for sun protection such as the cap should be worn outside.

Jewellery

Jewellery must not include drop earrings. Necklaces and bracelets that may tangle in machinery or equipment are dangerous and should not be worn.

Religious, cultural & sensory requirements

Where a student requires modification to the standard uniform for recognised religious purposes these will be accommodated when agreed by the school Principal. Where possible any relevant fabrics should match school colours and/or be purchased from the school’s uniform supplier.

  • To promote a sense of identity, pride and cohesion in the school.
  • To allow all students to feel equal preventing bullying or competition based on clothing.
  • To ensure students’ appearance reflects the expectation of their school community.
  • To strengthen community spirit enhancing the profile and identity of the school in the wider community.
  • To enhance individual student and group safety.
